It's been a long time coming. My first is finally done. Particulars: -Curly Cherrywood from Steve at Colonial -MadRose bridge and finger board -trim in EIR (headstock, end graft, FB and body trim) -Koa Rosette -Gold Schallers with ebony buttons -black horn bridge pins -FP finish I build her from scratch and she was done on a hot pipe and free formed. I'm never doing that again! I hope you enjoy the pics. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Wow, thats a beautiful guitar. I'm afraid my first is going to look rather tame compared to some we see here. Great work Alain. When you say you will never build from scratch again, can you tell us some more about what you mean. WP |

I'm going to be using molds from now on. I'll still bend on the pipe and build from scratch, though. One of the many mistakes I made during this build was that I glued the sides to the top and then I left it there for about a month or two without the back, this in the hottest and most humid time in the summer.... Combine this with the fact that I had cupping akin to the surface of a golf ball (too much water bending light colored curly woods) and I had a real hard time gluing the back on there. I had to use screws (where the binding would eventually be and the end graft) in a few spots and actually pull the sides open using traction with some wire... Stupid me! So from now on it's a female mold for me. That and trying to close the box with a few days... |

Very nice, Alain! But I know you've got more pictures, right? How 'bout that top purfling? rosette? headstock? Now that you got here, is this the coolest thing or what? Nothing like that first chord once you've strung her up! |

Thank you all for your compliments guys. It really means a lot to me. Andy, I followed the Millburn tutorial. I loved the experience of FP but I'm still building myself a paintbooth... It must of taken me 15 hours+, if not more... Pat and Wes, I'm still a bit freaked out when I play her... She sounds very good to me... Then again, I'm a bit biased ![]() ![]() |

And i'm the lucky guy who played it and she has the warmest sound that you could think of, those pics don't reflect how strikingly beautiful she is, Alain was kind enough to come here after work to show her to me and let me play it, had the toughest time of my life just lettin' him have her back! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Alain, i'm really proud of you and proud to be your friend!
